On Wednesday, 21th March 2012, held at Jamsostek Building – Jakarta, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin) with Radio e Televisao de Timor-Leste (RTTL) signed the agreement to extend the 6 MHZ transponder services for period of five years (15 April 2012 – 14 April 2017). The Director of Network Operations, Tulus Sudarsono and President of Council Administration Expedito Dias Ximenes from RTTL were attended for this occasion. The RTTL transponder agreement with Telkom Indonesia first began on April 13, 2007. It has been used in support of the successful elections in Timor-Leste which are currently underway. Apart from that, it also discussed the possibility of cooperation to relay the content of Telkom Group related to broadcast content and music.
Some of the Project ever undertaken by Telin with GoTL (Government of Timor-Leste) is NCP (National Connectivity Project) in 2008. At this phase, Telin built WIMAX and internet facilities to meet the needs of voice communications, data & video between departments and government agencies.
In 2011, GoTL trusted Telin to integrate existing NCP, establish Fiber Optic network and data centre in Dili. For the future of telecommunication in Timor Leste, the government plan to implement next phase of NCP, which is planned to commence in mid-2012 after the election of Timor-Leste. Telin has committed to explore the possibilities of business in Timor Leste and continue its footprints overseas.
